Some information about France

France is a well-known cultural melting pot and has been part of the pages of history ever since. It has played a part in every major event of the world and its worldwide popularity is no accident. The foundations of France started in the year 496. It is one of the oldest states in the world, even as its government has changed form several times over the years. The French state has existed continuously since the year 843, the year of the signing of the Treaty of Verdun which created the kingdom of Francia Occidentalis, the basis of modern France. The long history of France has resulted in several revolutions which have influenced developments worldwide.

Geographically, France has a very diverse number of land masses. It has coastal plains at the northern and the western regions and the mountain ranges of the Alps in the southeastern region of the country. The south central area of France is dominated by the Massif Central, an area of elevation in France consisting of several plateaus and mountains. The southwestern part of France is home to the Pyrenees, a popular spot for mountaineering and skiing.

French economy boasts of great vitality and France is a current member of the G8 group, a group of leading industrialized countries. In 2005, it ranked sixth in the ranking for the world’s largest economies, along with the United States, Japan, Germany and other economically aggressive countries. France is the number one tourist destination of the world, with over 75 million recorded tourists for the year 2003. This is only natural as France features many cities of great cultural interest, with Paris leading the pack. In fact, the city of Paris is almost synonymous with culture and class, if you are looking for Accomodation Paris it is wise to book early due to the amount of visitors that flood in throughout the year. France also has many seaside resorts, ski resorts and even France’s rural regions are well known among tourists for its inherent beauty and closeness to nature.

France also has a high investment in nuclear power generation so that it generates the least amount of carbon dioxide among the countries of the world. It also ranks as the country with the least energy dependence among Western countries. Due to its heavy investments in nuclear technology, 78.1% of France’s power needs are addressed by nuclear power plants. France is also the only European power, with the exception of Russia, that has its own spaceport.

Owing to France’s prominence in the world, properties in France are considered to be very good investments. Although properties can be expensive, especially in the city centers, the investment is worth the returns as France will always be one of the best places to live in the entire world. Even the rural areas of France are considered to be good property investments. The high rate of tourism in the area is also appealing for property investors who are looking to earn through property rentals. European and international investments in France is also at a rise which should result in many property development projects which will translate to an increase in investment opportunities.
