Dobrich is a town with a population of 100,000 and located in Dobrudzha Plateau, Northeast Bulgaria. It lies 37 km away from the Romanian border. This town is known as the biggest grain-growing region of the country. It is considered the ‘capital’ of the ‘fertile land’ of Dobrudzha. The town was named by the people in honour of their Bulgarian leader during medieval times, Dobrotitsa. During World War I, it was conquered by Romania and was only returned in World War II when the Bulgarian army was finally able to penetrate. It was named Toulbuhin for a period of time from 1949 to 1991 then it was renamed as Doborich, it is also called Doboritch.
