Charming renovated village house
This large detached 5-bedroom village house has been renovated to create a home full of character
A door from the courtyard opens to the very large kitchen / dining room (about 50m2) with exposed stone walls, traditional stone Charentaise fireplace, exposed beam ceiling and glazed patio doors to the garden. To one side the kitchen area has a range of modern fitted units and in the middle of the room the owner has made a feature island unit out of an old copper "alembic" (cognac still). There is then plenty of space for a large dining table and perhaps a sofa or two.
To the left of the kitchen a doorway leads through to the sitting room (32m2) with tiled floor, exposed stone wall, exposed beam ceiling and another Charentaise fireplace.
From the sitting room a doorway leads to a hall, off which are two bedrooms (15m2 and 10m2) both with exposed beam ceilings. Also off the hall are a shower room (sauna-shower and wash-basin) and a separate WC. A part-glazed door from the hall opens to the garden.
A staircase rises from the sitting room to the first floor landing where there is space for an office / study area. To the right of the landing a door opens to a mezzanine area (24m2) which overlooks the kitchen / dining room and which provides more office / study / library space.
To the left of the landing a corridor provides access to three bedrooms (13m2, 13m2 and 12m2) each with wooden flooring and exposed stone walls. To the far end of the corridor is a walk-in wardrobe. Also off the corridor are a bathroom (spa bath and wash-basin) and a separate WC).
Doors from the kitchen and hall open to a terrace which in turn leads to the walled garden - mainly left to lawn with a number of trees, shrubs and flower borders. To one side a small stone outbuilding has been converted to a laundry room.
