Bodrum information, Turkey

Bodrum Lush landscapes, a treasure trove of historical sites, miles and miles of beautiful beaches, plus genuinely friendly locals make Turkey one of the best holiday destinations around. Bodrum, a region about 521 miles south of Istanbul, is indeed considered one of Turkey’s most popular tourist spot.

Bodrum, a famous seaside tourist destination, is the ideal balance of whitewashed hillside houses dotted with bougainvilleas, spectacular ocean views, historical artifacts and a thriving nightlife. St. Peter’s Castle, a magnificent, imposing architectural wonder can be seen at every corner of this city, because of its prime location in the middle of Bordrum’s twin towers. Also in Bodrum is the Mausoleum, one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.

Bodrum is considered the ultimate party place, with eager club owners all trying to outdo each other in a bid to host exciting all-night spectacles. By night the city comes more alive with partyphiles filling “Bar Street”, a narrow expanse which empties onto an open harbour for more outdoor cafes and restaurants. Everything is capped off by a laser show from the famous Halikarnas Night Club.

While the city is itself a noisy, bustling area, the city takes pride in its smaller villages that offer quant taverns and restaurants overlooking the bays. These villages are a gentle reminder to visitors about the beauty of going back to the basics. In some villages, donkeys are still used to carry firewood for the traditional ovens to bake the unleavened pide bread.

The city also boasts of many beautiful holiday beach resorts. Across the Bodrum Peninsula for example, is a line of boutique hotels and the beaches of Torba and Türkbükü, as well as expensive seaside resorts at Yalikavak, Turgutreis, Ortakent, and Akyarlar. During the summer, the city’s twin harbors become filled with gulets or boats that offer trips to the nearby islands or for the “Blue Curise” a weeklong romantic hourney across the glorious coastlines of the Mediterranean.

There are also daily trips to the island of Kos in Greece, especially during summer, and a weekly hydrofoil to Rhodes between the months of September and May. The city is also known as one of the best places to go scuba diving in the South Aegean. Bodrum runs several dive centers that offer diving lessons along with equipment and excursions.

Leather goods of all kinds abound in Bodrum. Visitors delight at the other handmade products such as the Boncuk, which are blue glass beads, that can be bought at a bargain price in any of the little shops along the narrow, white-walled streets. Other charming boutiques offer sandals, carpets, original fashions and embroidery for the eager shopper.

A project on the rise in Bodrum is located in the village of Gumusluk. Prices start at about 78,000€, which allows room for great capital growth under completion. This project consists of about 14 blocks with about 4 independent units. There are a total of 56 units in the complex that offer superb landscaped views at very exceptional prices. Truly, investing in Bodrum is the perfect addition to any Turkish property portfolio.
