Rhone-Alpes boasts a good number of natural parks and 28 nature reserves showing off the region’s wonderful natural bounty. It has endless numbers of ski runs, making it the ultimate winter adventure spot. The highest mountain of Western Europe, Mont Blanc, may be found here. However, skiing is not the only activity in Rhone-Alpes. Hiking and cycling are also popular. As are fishing, boating and canoeing. Football is a highly favoured sport, with the Rhone-Alpes as home to several successful football teams. Attractions abound in the towns of Rhone-Alpes. The marvelous city of Lyon boasts of several wonderful museums and roman remains, as well as a host of fine shops and restaurants. Charmonix, sitting at the foot of Mont Blanc, has one of the longest cable car rides to offer. Montelimar, famous for its nougat, has wonderful wide Parisian style boulevards and cafés as well as the finest boutiques this side of France. Nyons, the olive producing capital of the country, is a medieval fortified town with modern amenities. Morzine is a pretty Alpine village that is abuzz with activities in the winter. Prospective home owners and second home buyers will still find many good bargains in the southern part of Rhone-Alpes, with prices there lower than in the northern part.
