The Ile-de-France region, ranked first in the country in terms of economic activity, is one of the most important in Europe. With a mostly young and dynamic population that accounts for 19% of the country’s total, it is a vibrant area of booming businesses and thriving industries. Paris, of course, dominates the region, its metropolitan area covering most of Ile-de-France. With its excellent infrastructures and fine architecture and a city skyline dominated by the l'Arc de Triomphe, Champs Elysee and Eiffel Tower, as well as the Louvre and the Notre Dame, Paris is every tourist’s delight. Paris offers everything to suit everyone’s tastes: impressive art collections, eclectic and traditional entertainment events, superb cuisine and historical sites to explore and delight in. Travel farther away to the suburbs and encounter densely wooded areas and wonderful gardens, historic chateaux and charming villages that provide a contrast to the bustling city sights. Agriculture is as thriving as the other industries, with Ile-de-France being ranked first nationally in terms of total sales in food and agriculture products. As to be expected, properties are very highly priced in the prime region of Ile-de-France, but are cheaper as one moves to the suburbs. Cost of living also remains high, but demand for goods and services is equally as high. Climate can be very cold during winters, but are relatively warm during summers. Transportation and communication facilities are excellent, and one would find all the conveniences possible from a cosmopolitan region. As an investment choice, Ile-de-France stands out like no other. In a study by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Ile-de-France came out as the number one city of Europe in which to invest for overall value as opposed to risk. « Return to Ile-de-France |
