Champagne-Ardennes, known for its rolling landscapes and Champagne, is located north-east of France. It is an area rich in history and scenery. The region of Champagne-Ardennes is dominated by rivers, lakes, canals and forests. The largest artificial lake in Europe, Lac du Der-Chantecoq, serves as a major tourist attraction.Summers are warm with temperature in the mid twenties centigrade scale in Champagne-Ardennes, while winters can be quite cold with temperatures nearing zero. For the art and history buffs, fine galleries, museums, and world heritage buildings as well as Roman ruins offer awe-inspiring wonders. The region has delightful cuisine and many of its specialties bring out the best of its abundant wild game. It also boasts of a fine selection of popular cheeses. Surprisingly, property is still fairly inexpensive in Champagne-Ardennes, with prices getting higher in the areas closer to Paris and Belgium. Road networks are fairly good throughout the region. With only 1.3 million inhabitants, this is one of the least populated areas of France. Thus, outside of the major towns, the properties are truly a bargain. Apartments average 100,000€, while small houses in the rural areas average at 135,000€.
