The province enjoys a contrast of seasons, with warm Indian summers creating breathless landscapes and harsh winters providing abundant snowfall perfect for skiing. Rainfall here is also relatively lower than in the neighbouring regions. The Alsace climate is perfect for a host of activities for the nature lover and explorer, there are numerous well planned hiking routes and rambling trails, around 100 horse riding establishments, almost 2000 kilometers of bicycle trails with mountain biking trails along the Vosges, and adventure and wildlife parks to facilitate open air activities. In the winters, ski resorts offer around 1000 kilometers of cross country skiing trails. The cultural atmosphere is equally as high in Alsace, with the prominent Filature in Mulhouse and the National Rhine Opera as leading venues, along with modern music and concert halls offering options for entertainment. Travelers to Alsace remark about its dreamy, fairy-tale atmosphere, with its medieval villages and castle ruins, cobble decked streets, and flower-adorned half timber houses with huge courtyards. The capital of Alsace is Strassbourg, with its Gothic architecture. Strassbourg has a young and lively atmosphere, being the academic destination of note, boasting a fine university with a huge population. The residential area here contains many fine institutions and large private buildings. Properties in the capital as in most of the cities can be quite expensive, from between 180,000€ - 300,000€. However, buying property here remains a sound investment as there is always a huge demand for rentals among the European workers that come to Alsace, not to mention the regular tourists who stay for about a month just to be so immersed in the local culture. Alsace offers an experience to see it's breathtaking sights and charming culture up close. Along with a low unemployment rate, booming industries, and good transport facilities, Alsace offers more than a beautiful countryside view. « Return to Alsace |
