Another less populated province is situated at the heart of Spain. Segovia is in the central/ northern part of the country. Because of its geographic location, Segovia is surrounded by many local provinces, namely, Valladolid, Soria, Burgos, Avila, Guadalajara and the national capital of Madrid. The surrounding provinces are centers of trade and are active in businesses. That is why the location of the province is described and termed strategic. As of the latest population survey, the province has some 150,000 inhabitants. There are 209 towns and municipalities; half of which, interestingly, have population under just 200 people. The tourism industry is the main source of revenue by the government because every year, thousands if not millions are visiting the province. There are many reasons why the tourism industry in the province has been thriving. On the top of the list of those reasons is the numerous sights and historical landmarks. Beautiful and natural sceneries are to be found in Segovia. To date, tourism authorities identify Cuellar, Sepulva, La Granja de San Lldefonso, Pedraza, Coca and Turegamo as among the municipalities with highly recommendable sights and natural sceneries. Hunting is one leisure activity that is highly recommended to be done in the province. The wilderness is abundant in numerous wild forms of animals like hare, deer, rabbits and the likes. Many tourists come to some municipalities to hunt for past time. Hunting has also evolved to be a fun gaming activity. Interestingly, local folk do not hunt for food, but are cooperative in leaving the activity for tourists. In return, significant revenues and earning opportunities are brought in by local tourism sector. Segovia is a place for good and exotic dishes. Frogs’ legs are cooked into a delicacy that is very much identified with the province. Lamb, river crabs, suckling pig and trout are also used for highly recommended and very popular dishes. Some tourists come to experience the rich and unique delicacies of the province. The capital city of Segovia is known for the many spots and tourism sites. The city has numerous historical monuments that are old and are reminiscent of the old culture exhibited through architecture. The cathedral is on the top of the list for such historical landmarks with great architecture and design. The United Nations, as a matter of fact and in recognition of the city’s value to history, declared Segovia city as World Heritage Site. Because the province is located in the central portion of the province, the climate is no different from the prevailing in the surrounding provinces. Summers are typically warm and very much dry and winters are characterized by usual and frequent rainfall. Temperatures can also drop to freezing in winter and can be really hot during summer. Traditional festivities are highly and warmly commemorated. Cultural acts and folk customs are very popular and are widely observed throughout the province. The bulls’ fiesta is of tourism significance. Real estate industry in Segovia is very promising.
