The prevailing climate in Salamanca is dry. All throughout the year, the skies are always blue and the sun is up and shining. Rainfall is on the average. The municipality is also a good place where hunting activities can be done. Both local people and tourists are enjoying hunting for deer, hare and other wild animals in the vast wilderness. Because of the flowing river, fishing is also an income generating as well as a recreational activity. Several water sports are also popular in the area. The capital city of Salamanca serves as home to about half of the total population of the province. Still, the city is not too crowded and there are still plenty of land areas to be developed as urban or population centers. Salamanca city is a promising site for a promising and popular real estate industry. As a matter of fact, the tourism sector has been identified as among the main economic activities in the city. Annually, the city government recognizes tourism as a great and reliable source of income. The academe is also highly regarded in Salamanca. One of the most popular and credible universities not just in the country but also in Europe is the renowned University of Salamanca. The university was established in 1218 by Alfonso IX, from Leon.
