Pontevedra The northeastern part of Spain can be found Pontevedra, which the southwestern province of the autonomous region of Galicia. Pontevedra is surrounded by the Spanish provinces of Ourense, Lugo and A Coruña. At the eastern side of the province can be found the neighboring country of Portugal and at the southwest portion, the land is touching the Atlantic Ocean.

Total land area of the province is less when compared to the land mass of other Spanish provinces. The 62 municipalities that can be found in Pontevedra serve as home to about a million inhabitants that reside in the province. Unlike in other provinces, population in the capital city is just a little, representing just about 8% of total provincial population.

The prevailing climate that is influencing the whole of the province is moderate, having sunny days that are very much loved by tourists. The average rainfall is just enough, not too much, not too less. Rain usually drops during the winter season. The prevailing weather condition is very much suited for cultivation and maintenance of vineyards. When the grapes are abundant, it just natural that the winemaking industry would flourish. Wine lovers assert that wine produced in Pontevedra is one of the finest there are in the whole world.

Many parts of Pontevedra are allotted for industrial facilities. Particularly, shipbuilding is a promising industry. There are many shipbuilding facilities that are located in the province. The coastal area is also a thriving venue for many fish canning businesses. Because the coast is adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, it is natural that there are many types of fishes that are abundant in the area. Many canned fish products are being exported to offshore markets particularly around the European region. Such fish canning operations are also supplying canned products to the local market. Pontevedra is also one of the fishing ports in the country. Specifically, Vigo, a municipality in the province, is considered the main fishing port of Spain.

The towns of Cangas, Moaña, Marin, Bueu and the islet of la Toja are the venues for the province’s attractive and most visited beach resorts. If you want to go skinny dipping in the Atlantic, the beaches in the areas are very ideal and are popular to Spanish beach fanatics and thousands of tourists.

Like many Spanish provinces, feasts and celebrations are grand and flamboyant. The traditional feasts and merrymaking for the commemoration of the festivities for La Peregine and the feast of Pontevedra are attention catching. Food and beverages simply flood the streets and households and any visitor are warmly welcomed.

Real estate in Pontevedra is of course one of the revenue generating activities and industries in the province. Land properties in the coastal areas are truly in-demand are premium priced.
