Palencia information, Spain

Palencia In the northern part of Spain can be found Palencia, a province that is mostly consisting of flat land. The province is included in the autonomous region of Castile. Palencia is surrounded by other Spanish provinces of Valladolid, Cantabria, Leon and Burgos. The total number of inhabitants reached just close to 200,000 as of the latest count. Palencia has 191 municipalities where more than 50% of inclusive villages are boasting of a population that is equivalent to just about 200 people.

Because of the flat characteristic of the land, it is natural and logical that the farming industry is very much alive in the province. The only elevated landscape in Palencia is the foothills at the Cantabrian mountains, a mountain range which is mainly located in Cantabria. As a province, Palencia is located within the area of the river basin of Duero.

Tourists abound PAlencia because of their awe and curiosity over the many old buildings and structures that are sporting Romanesque characteristics. Among the most popular landmarks are the Church of Santiago located in the town of Carrion de los Condes, the Monstery of Sta. Maria la Real and San Andres de Arroyo and the church of San Martin de Fromista.

Other than the old and historic structures, the people and tradition in Palencia is equally interesting. There are many dance groups that abound and are formed by villagers. Folklore are very much interesting and intriguing. Traditional and extravagant fiestas are also to die for. Foods and beverages simply flood households whenever there are important feasts and merrymaking, which usually commemorate feast days of patron saints. The province is very much known to offer the best dished for river crab, partridge, porridge, young roast lamb, trout and quail.

The capital city is also called Palencia. Palencia city is a fertile valley that is naturally irrigated by the historic and large Carrion River. The historical value and treasure of the province is very much alive and apparent in the streets across the outskirts of the city of Palencia. Interesting architecture is worn and flaunted by several structures in the city like the St. Clare Monastery, San Francisco and San Pablo Museums, and the Cathedral.

Overall climate is very ideal and a little temperate. Because it is situated in the middle of the land, expect that summers are hot and winters are also freezing. Rainfall is on the average, providing support and water nourishment for vegetation.

Real estate industry in the province is very much promising. Because most land area in Palencia is consisting of flat land areas, expect that there are property developments that are truly attractive and appealing to property investors. Tag prices of such assets are not that high, but there are real estate centers that offer assets at premium prices. Most real estate developments are catering to commercial developments, although many investors are buying properties for residential purposes.
