Lugo information, Spain

The northwestern portion of Spain is the cradle for Lugo, a Spanich province that is part of the autonomous region of Galicia. The province is home to more than 350,000 local inhabitants. Lugo is situated in a location that is surrounded by the other Spanish provinces of Leon, Pontevedra, Ourense, A Coruņa and Asturias. At the northeastern tip can be found the Bay of Biscay, which is more popularly known as the Cantabrian Sea.

The towns of San Ciprian, Barreiros, Reinante and Foz are very much ideal for fishing. Caostal areas of the municipalities can be considered fishing communities or centers. The abundance of different types of aquatic animals like salmon, shell fish and trout is significant make dishes for such thrive in the area. Local folk very much know how to cook different and innovative dishes using the animals.

In Lugo can also be found the mountain zone of Meira Sierra. Thus, from the fishing communities, there are also communities on the foot of the mountain. In the valleys can be found different agricultural means of livelihood. The valleys in perfect for many different leisure activities for tourists like hunting. There are various wild animals that are thriving and naturally roaming on the outskirts of the valley, especially hares and rabbits.

In the mountains can be found capercaillie, deer, wild mountain goats and chamois. The Ancares National Game Reserve is a nature park where many such animals are given sanctuaries. On the mountain communities of Lugo, folk are very well known for having the best dishes for pork. Turnip tops Lugo ham and sausages are among the food products that make Lugo popular to people with good and hearty appetites.

There are many sites where there are numerous traces of Celtic remains. There are Romanesque buildings that are catching much interests. In Lugo can also be found an old Roman wall that has been previously restored, another good reason why tourists come to the province more often.

The rivers of Eo, Ulla, Lor, Miņo, and Navia are the sources of fresh water as well as fresh water fishes like trout and salmon. Fishing is an ordinary activity that is also introduced and tagged by tourism authorities as one hot activity to do in Lugo. The rivers are also very much ideal for different types of water sports.

The overall prevailing temperature is temperate. During winter season, the weather could be very cold. During summer, weather and temperature can get really hot and steamy. Thus, in Lugo could be found different hot springs, Spas and bathhouses for all ages. Swimming is on sports and leisure activity that makes tourists constantly visit the area.
