Gran Canaria information, Spain

Gran Canaria The third biggest island of the Canary Islands is logically and absolutely the most interesting. Gran Canaria is attracting the attention of numerous tourists from all around the world because os its features. Spain has claimed the territorial ownership of the island in the 15th century. Since then, the country has been proud and boastful of this wonderful island that is truly a priceless treasure.

What arouses the interest of most visitors to the Gran Canaria is its reputation for being a so-called "Miniature Continent". From that description, you could easily infer that the island has the characteristics of being a continent, except for land area. Interestingly, Gran Canaria has different prevailing climates, which differ according to the main landscape area.

The northern part of Gran Canaria is simply cooler in temperature. The south is characterized by warmer temperature and almost sunny weather, making the beaches found in the area ideal for sunbathing and beach activities. The east side of the island is dotted with beaches and the overall landscape is flat, while the western portion is mountainous and rocky, making you feel as if you were in the Grand Canyon.

Another attraction of Gran Canaria is the abundance of several gay spots and hangout joints. Particularly, Playa del Ingles in the southern part of the island is a hot spot for gay European tourists. The gay spots are centered at the shopping center called Yumbo Centrum. There are also many beaches across the area where gay people could enjoy and hangout the most.

Gran Canaria is relatively small in land area. It is estimated that the island has just about 1,560 square kilometers of overall land area. However, the population is large, reaching more than 800,000 as of the latest population count. All throughout the year, tourists are coming over to enjoy the sights and do many leisure and outdoor activities within the premises of different resorts in the island.

There are 21 municipalities within Gran Canaria. Those municipalities include the Las Palmas, where the biggest city across all of the Canary Islands could be found, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is wonderful to note that in the middle of such a wonderful and naturally preserved island could be found a city that is very much urbanized and has all the basic features of a really chic one.

Many sources claim that many world-renowned celebrities own homes in Gran Canaria. That is not surprising. With the exquisite overall beauty of the island and the many wonderful real estate developments, surely, everyone would want to get a piece of the land. Besides, the island is a private and secure one, making famous celebrities find refuge and sanctuary, as well as a hiding place from the naughty and sharp camera lens of the Western world's paparazzi.

But as local property developers would say, you do not need to be a celebrity to be enabled to invest in real estate properties in the island. If you could afford the tag prices of any property in Gran Canaria, grab the opportunity because surely, in the future, assets in the island would be much more expensive. Hurry because it would not take long.
