Fuerteventura information, Spain

Fuerteventura Within the Spanish territory of Canary Islands off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean can be found a unique island that has been declared as a major European getaway or vacation destination. Fuerteventura is one of the seven major islands of the Canary that serve as boundary between Spain and the northern part of the African continent.

The geographic location of Fuerteventura is significant for the rising number of travellers and emigrants from Africa that aim to cross borders by taking sails or boats from the African country of Morocco. It is obvious that there are more African inhabitants of the island. History also has it that the folk come from African descent. However, legal and native inhabitants are very much Spanish in culture and in actions.

Due to its strategic location, many conquerors have occupied Fuerteventura in the past. Phoenician settlers inhabited the island during the onset of 11th century BC. Both Portuguese and Spanish expeditors came to the island in the 12th century. Even France had a little stint of colonizing the island. In the 18th century, formal occupation and ownership of the island was legally transferred to Spain, during the time of Queen Isabella II. In 1912, the island obtained a self-govern right from Spain through Canary Islands.

In 1859, it was declared that Puerto del Rosario, formerly Puerto de Cabras, would become Fuerteventura's capital. In the capital center could be found the El Mattoral airport, which serves as a major and basic entry point for tourists. Since 1965, numerous hotels have been constructed and established in the island to cater to the numerous tourists that come all year round.

The local economy of Fuerteventura is practically reliant on tourism. As vacationers come and go regularly, much revenue is secured by the island. The inhabitants also get much of their earnings and occupations from the rise of the local tourism industry. Some folk also stick to other traditional jobs like fishing and crop cultivation, especially of vegetables and cereals.

The climate is very much pleasant and ideal for beach and outdoor activities. Strong winds, especially from the Sahara desert in Africa, characterize the island. That is the reason why water skiing and windsurfing is very much popular and wide practiced.

Fuerteventura has the second biggest land area among the islands of the Canary. That is why there is a significant land area that is very much available for property developers and real estate investors. Because the island is practically volcanic in origin, the soil is very much ideal for agriculture and land cultivation.

Another feature of the Fuerteventura that is deemed ideal for real estate investments is its having a larger flat lands area. There are no tall mountains, but numerous small and low-lying hills, which are practically appealing to land investors. Real estate is significantly and highly promising in Fuerteventura. With the island's strategic geographic location and very interesting physical and climate features, there is wonder that the island is considered as one of the most promising and attractive real estate havens of Spain.
