Formentera information, Spain

In the middle of the Mediterranean Sea can be found a small island that is well loved and admired by tourists around the world. Formentera is the tiniest island located in the archipelago of Illes Pitiuses, which is located southwest in the Spanish province-island of Mallorca in Spain. Formentera lies in the area near Ibiza that is also a very popular tourist destination.

Formentara is so small that anywhere in it you could actually get a glimpse of the blue crystal waters of the sea. It has only 90 square kilometres of land area, enough to house just about 5,200 people, as of the latest population count. Not included in the count is the numerous tourists and vacationers that flock the island the whole year round.

The prevailing climate observable in Formentera is temperate and subtropical that it feels like every time it is springtime. Thus, you could infer that anytime of the year is perfect timing for beach activities and leisurely acts. The prevailing temperature is also a significant factor why there is rich vegetation. The island is abundant and flourishing with palms and pines.

The solemn and relaxed ambience of the island makes it very ideal for vacations and breaks from office and school. Tourists and regular visitors simply define and describe Formentera as a true blue and interesting paradise. There are also lonely bays that are not so lonely, and grottos are everywhere, reminding vacationers that the Formentera is also a haven for the faithful and the religious types.

The general appeal and popularity of Formentera comes from the fact that it is a haven for nude beaching. Nudists come and go every time. Do not worry because there is nothing obscene about such activities. Tourists come to tan their bodies equally. However, Formentera is still very much wholesome. Nudists would still see grottos within nude camps, as if they are reminded not to do nasty and kinky activities around.

Because the island is very much isolated from the rest of Spain, there is no other way to reach it buy by boats and ferries from the tourist flocked bigger island of Ibiza. There are regular boat trips because the transport industry recognizes the fact that there are always numerous tourists on queue to get to the island.

The major language spoken by folk is Catalan, which is often referred to in literatures as a romantic language. During summer, when tourists from Germany and Italy are greater in number, you would hear German and Italian languages spoken in the streets. Spanish language is also very much spoken.

Interestingly, there is only one municipality that can be found in Formentera. That municipality of course is also called Formentera. There is no capital city, although you can find that the basic amenities of a city can also be conveniently found across the whole of the island.

Buying real estate in the island can be a significant investment. Because Formentera is a tourist destination, expect that properties are costly. Also, the small and limited land area available for buyers makes for dwindled purchasable area, which naturally makes up for higher tag and asking prices.
