Compared to other Spanish provinces, Castellon has a bigger population, reaching more than half a million in the last census in 2002. Of that population, 30% live in the capital city of Castellon de la Plana. There are about 135 towns or municipalities across the whole of Castellon. Three other major cities can be found in the province, namely, Vinaros, Burriana and Villareal. Most of the residents speak either the traditional and widely spoken Spanish or another dialect popular in the region called the Valencian. As a matter of fact the name Castellon, which is in Spanish, has its own Valencian translation or version, Castello. Local folk are less into extravagant feasts, although the feast called La Magdalena, which is associated with the Cerro de la Ermita pilgrimage, is well and extravagantly celebrated. As a tourist destination, Castellon is very well known for its feel good and beautiful beaches and for old and historic structures of course. The coast of Castellon is distinct for its fine-sand filled and rocky beaches. Part of the well renowned orange blossom coast can also be found along the province's coastline. Situated adjacent to the Mediterranean, Castellon's climate is generally temperate. There are scattered and little rain showers that are expected throughout the year. Thus, the province is deemed ideal for extreme leisure habits and various outdoor sports activities. Some people also immigrate to the province because of the ideal temperate climate. Several important and historical landmarks and structures can be found in Castellon. An old town in the city of Castellon de la Plana called the Plaza Mayor or Main Square holds several of those landmarks like the Concatedral de Santa Maria, the El Fadri and the Ayuntamiento. A 17th century exchange market called the Llotja del Canem is also found in the capital city. The well-known towns of Segorbe, Alcora, Lucena del Cid and Morella are the venues of the country's biggest sites for olive groves, vineyards, orchards and orange groves. General pottery and tile industries also proliferate in Castellon. Castellon is generally an ideal province to buy real estate assets at. That is because there are still numerous land areas that are readily available for development. If you are aiming to acquire a commercial or residential lot in the province, it would be imperative that you make the necessary processing of legal and required documents. Also expect that the amount of investment needed would be somehow large enough to classify the amount as really significant. But for sure, investing for an asset in the province would really be all worth it. « Return to Castellon-Castello |
