The province is located at the northern portion of the country. It is bounded by the Basque Country in the east, by Castile and Leon by the south, by Asturias in the west and the Bay of Biscay on the north. Cantabria mostly consists the region called the Green Spain, which is the main hub where basic and numerous crops and agriculture products for local consumption and even exports originate. Green Spain is considered very ideal for agriculture and vegetation because the region has a very wet, yet moderate humid climate. That is because the geographic location of Cantabria is very much influenced and regulated by the nearby Atlantic Ocean, which produces humid winds that are eventually trapped by the Cantabrian Mountains. The average precipitation in Cantabria facilitates the growth of lush vegetation. The province is also abundant with native tree species like oaks and beeches. Native forests, however, have been greatly replaced by Monterey Pines and eucalyptus plantations. There are also numerous rivers flowing across Cantabria. These rivers are still clean and fresh because they are originating from the Cantabrian Mountains, flowing towards the Mediterranean Sea. Those rivers are also acting as great venues for fishing and community functions. Some sports enthusiasts are also doing extreme sports activities in those water bodies like kayaking, sailing and many more. There are seven areas that are considered as national parks across the entire province. These areas of sheer public interest include the Dunes of Liencres Natural Park, the Oyambre Natural Park, the Collados del Asion Natural Park, the Saja-Besaya Natural Park, the Macizo de Pena Cabarga Natural Park, the Picos de Europa National Park and the Santoņa, Victoria and Joyel Marshes Natural Park. Real estate developers find Cantabria as a good site of real estate investments due to the province's advanced and well developed infrastructure. The province's main roads are easily and conveniently connected to the country's main roads, which facilitate easy and fast in-country roaming. Transportation and communication industries are well developed as well, which is at the advantage of local people and dwellers. The capital city of Santander is an economic hub where various types and modes of trading are facilitated. Santander is also the root venue and founding site of one of the country's biggest global lender, Banco Santander. Taking real estate investments in the province is easy as long as the investor is coordinating well with agents and the local government. There are still lots of parcels of land that need to be developed and tilled. Property developers are starting to flock the province because they see the area's potential to attract urban and suburban dwellers. Cantabria is a province where traditional concepts and nature-inspired settings are in touch with the sophistication of modernization. « Return to Cantabria |
