As for the geographic features, Alicante is very diverse. There is a number of mountain ranges and hills, there are forests and there is a coastline. Being located in the southernmost tip of Spain, Alicante has three towns where maritime activities are very much active. These are Torrevieja, Orihueala and Guardamar. The capital city of the region, also known as Alicante, is a budding national and global tourist destination. The city is among the very few Spanish cities that facilitate for water and beach activities. That is because there is a number of beaches in the city, including the popular San Juan. As for accessibility, Alicante in general is linked directly with the Mediterranean Highway that stretches through the Spanish coastlines up from the French border. If you want to travel by air from any point of the country or abroad, Alicante is aviation-linked through its own air terminal called the El Altet airport. From there, the region is linked to the global major cities. Using the seas, there are ports that link Alicante to the Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Barcelona and even the offshore destinations of North Africa and France. As for manufacturing sites in the region, not too many plants and manufacturing facilities can be found within Alicante, compared to other local regions. That can be both a boon and a bane. For the employment sector, that fact can be a little of a setback because that means not too many workers are employed within the region. For some people that can be a very good thing because when there are less manufacturing plants, it is like saying that there is little pollution and the region is not becoming too crowded. However, the regional tourism industry is making up for the less active manufacturing condition in Alicante. Many tourist attractions are found in Alicante. Included in those attractions are the Santa Barbara Castle, the Cathedral, the historic Church of Santa Maria, the Archaeological Museum, the Monastery of Santa Faz, and of course, the Modern Art Museum. These places are generating millions of dollars from tourism activity every year. As mentioned above, Alicante provides natural venues where diverse and different physical activities can be done. Because there are mountains, hills and beaches, you could do many land and water sports in the region. There are many sports clubs that could help you organize sports activities every now and then.
