Kyrenia information, Cyprus

Kyrenia Picturesque Kyrenia thrives due to tourism and its historic harbour, benchmarking it as the Harbour City of Cyprus. This is located at the northern part of Cyprus. It has a beautiful castle on the eastern side with a 12th century chapel showing reused old Roman capitals. The cities harbour used to be lined with warehouses filled with fruits from the countryside waiting to be exported. These days the harbour is lined with restaurants and other buildings, and used for commercial shipping and ferries from the Turkish mainland.

Kyrenia’s history dates back to Prehistoric times of Cyprus during the Neolithic period, 5800-3000 BC. These were evident with the frescos and architectural designs of tombs, cemeteries and other structures found in excavations made around the city.
