Salzburg is located in the northern part of the Alps boundary and is on the banks of the river Salzach. Mountains are found in the southern part of Salzburg while on the north are rolling plains. Just a few kilometers away from the center of the city is the Untersberg with the height of 1972 meters. It is the closest alpine peak to Salzburg. Salzburg is 300 kilometers away from the west of Vienna and approximately 150 kilometers away from the east of Germany and Munich. The “Old Town” is also called Alstadt. It is a home of many baroque churches and towers. This particular area is bordered by two smaller mountains. These two mountains are said to be the green lung of the city, they are the Kapunzinerberg and Monchsberg.
